Last week, the Marani Health team had the honor of participating in the Mayo Clinic Cardiology and Radiology Innovation Summit, an event that brought together some of the brightest minds in health care, technology, and research. It was more than just a conference. It was a moment of reflection on how far maternal health innovation has come and a powerful look ahead at what is still possible.
We were proud to share our latest work and even more excited to connect with leaders like Dr. Paul Friedman and the team at Mayo Clinic Ventures who share our vision. For Marani Health, this was also something of a homecoming. Our company was founded at Mayo Clinic and built on its world-class approach to clinical rigor, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to care for every patient with excellence.
This summit reaffirmed why we do what we do. And it reignited our drive to push maternal health into a smarter, more equitable future.
Our Origins: A Mission Born at Mayo Clinic
Marani Health was created out of a simple but powerful realization: too many pregnant patients are falling through the cracks of a fragmented health system. Our founder, Ann Holder, saw firsthand how technology could be leveraged to close gaps in care, deliver earlier interventions, and support providers in a more connected way.
Together with clinicians and researchers at Mayo Clinic, we began building technologies and remote monitoring platforms designed specifically for maternal care. From the beginning, our goal was not just to gather data but to make it meaningful and actionable. We focused on integrating groundbreaking research into a fully operational platform that includes biometric monitoring, mental health and social determinants of health screeners, and predictive insights into a seamless experience that supports both the care team and the patient.
That founding philosophy still drives everything we do.
The Future of Maternal Care Is Digital, Personalized, and Predictive
At the Mayo Innovation Summit, we were thrilled to showcase the latest evolution of our platform. Marani’s maternal health technology continues to advance rapidly, and today our solutions are capable of delivering personalized insights that help clinicians prioritize risk and tailor support based on the unique needs of each patient.
Key features of our current platform include:
-
Remote Patient Monitoring for Pregnancy and Postpartum: Our RPM tools track vital signs like blood pressure, weight, and heart rate, while also collecting key mental health and behavioral data. All of this feeds into intelligent dashboards that support timely interventions.
-
Risk Stratification Engine: Powered by artificial intelligence, our system integrates clinical, demographic, and social risk factors into a composite score that helps care teams focus their time and energy on patients who need the most support.
-
Care Coordination Tools: We help providers and payors coordinate across OB-GYNs, primary care, social workers, and behavioral health teams to make sure care is delivered holistically and without unnecessary delays.
-
Patient-Centered Experience: Our mobile app empowers patients to stay engaged, track their metrics, receive education, and communicate with their care team in real time.
We are not just building software. We are building a new way of delivering maternity care.
Driving Alignment with ACOG PATH Standards
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has developed the PATH standards – Plan for Appropriate Tailored Healthcare in Pregnancy – as a framework to improve maternal outcomes by emphasizing proactive, equitable, and data-informed care.
At Marani Health, our technology directly supports health systems and payors in implementing these standards by:
-
Enhancing continuous monitoring between visits
-
Identifying early signs of complications like hypertension and mental health distress
-
Supporting seamless handoffs across multidisciplinary teams
-
Providing rich data for quality improvement and population health management
We believe that adopting ACOG’s PATH framework is essential for driving real progress in maternal outcomes. Our tools are designed to make that transition easier and more scalable across diverse clinical environments.
Supporting the SMFM Care Team Model
The Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM) has long advocated for a team-based approach to managing complex pregnancies. This model emphasizes collaboration across OB-GYNs, MFM specialists, nurses, mental health providers, and social services.
Marani Health’s platform supports the SMFM care model by:
-
Centralizing communication and patient data so that everyone on the care team has access to the same information
-
Supporting social determinants of health tracking and integration into care planning
-
Facilitating shared decision-making with patients through digital engagement tools
As maternal health challenges become more complex, care teams need systems that are just as dynamic. We are proud to offer technology that meets that challenge.
Empowering Health Systems, Payors, and Patients
Marani Health works at the intersection of clinical care, payer strategies, and patient empowerment. That is where real transformation happens. We partner with health systems to enhance workflows and reduce unnecessary interventions. We support payors in value-based models that reward proactive care and prevent costly complications. And most importantly, we empower patients to take an active role in their care journey.
When each of these groups is aligned, the results speak for themselves in the form of lower maternal mortality, fewer preterm births, better mental health outcomes, and higher patient satisfaction.
We are excited to continue collaborating with Medicaid and commercial payors, health system leaders, and public health agencies to scale our impact even further.
What’s Next: Innovation Without Limits
Our time at the Mayo Clinic Cardiology and Radiology Innovation Summit left us deeply optimistic about the future. The technology landscape has matured. The data infrastructure is catching up. And there is finally a shared commitment to redesigning maternal health care for the better.
Marani Health will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible, including:
-
Expanding our AI models for early risk prediction
- Incorporating generative AI to improve patient and provider experience
-
Building new analytics tools to support population-level insights
-
Deepening our partnerships with providers in both rural and urban settings
We are entering a new era in maternal health, and we are proud to be leading the way.
